From Justin´s sermon: When you believe you´ve been forgiven, you can hear Paul´s words to the Galatians differently, “it´s no longer you who lives, but Christ who lives in you. And the life you now live in the flesh you live by faith in the Son of God, who loved you and gave himself for you.” From my sermon: "Mission isn´t always the lovely dinner we had planned, but when a sister or a brother in Christ barges in, we are called to be Christ´s hands and feet, to help our neighbor. It´s ok that the dinner is interrupted, let us welcome ALL our guests with Christ´s radical love, let us strive for justice, to totally turn upside down those situations and systems that marginalize and oppress others remembering as your mission statement here at Resurrection Lutheran Church says “We are God´s children called to serve our neighbors." Instead of breaking bread, we scooped delicious ice cream together in Jesus´s name as we explored what we do in our mission and ministry in Bolivia. Lively conversation and mmm was it good! Thank you Holy Cross for the wonderful food, fellowship and your love and support!! It was wonderful to see you again! Thank you for your support, wonderful conversations and great friendships! Your commitment to us from your WELCA group reminds us that we are in mission and ministry together with you. It all means a lot to us! Training young Lutheran leaders, inspiring them to service in their community and church, proclaiming the Gospel through summer camp fun is what this amazing camp is all about! Thank you Margie and Nathan for a wonderful time!! From Justin´s sermon: She who was husbandless, sonless, and in mourning, she who epitomized the "poor" to whom Jesus has come to bring good news, was the real recipient of Jesus' compassionate and reconciling ministry. While we never know how the widow reacted when her living son was placed back in her arms, I imagine her words as those of the psalmist... “Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning. [For] You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent!” May God´s story, lived out in our everyday missional lives, inspire us to praise God and not be silent. From my sermon: "Jesus gives us a reason to speak. In the Gospel today, there were really two processions. Jesus and the crowd that came with him entering the city and the widow and the crowd going with her for the funeral of her son leaving the city. Two processions, crossing paths, a procession of life and simultaneously of death. When Jesus met the woman and the crowd in her path, literally new life came into being. See, move, speak- tell God´s story." From our mission moment at the assembly: |
